Welcome to our Kingdom!
A Missive from Their Royal Majesties of Æthelmearc:
Unto the noble populace of Our fair Kingdom do Murdoch and Ríoghnach, King and Queen of Æthelmearc send greetings.
The days are longer, the sun is brighter, the Ice Dragon has passed! It is once again the busy season here in Æthelmearc and We couldn’t be more excited. There are events nearly every weekend catering to the interests and passions of nearly everyone in Our Kingdom. While it is impossible for anyone to make it to all of them (your Royals included), we can certainly try!
Whether you fence, fight, shoot, throw, brew, “art”, or serve, Æthelmearc and its people stand ready to compete, teach, help, and learn. This is the strength of a chosen family and one We would see grow and strengthen in the upcoming season.
For those of you who do not know Us, or those who wish to know Us a little better, there is information to be found on the Æthelmearc webpage at trm.aethelmearc.org including some background, some personal preferences, patterns for Her Majesty’s War Favors, and a list of upcoming Royal progress events where We hope to see, meet, and reacquaint Ourselves with this Glorious Kingdom and its populace.
If you see Us at events, come say hello. Introduce yourself if we don’t know each other. If you have questions, comments, concerns, complaints, We want to hear them. The position We hold exists because you accept Us in this role. We are here to serve you, the Kingdom, and our shared Dream.

Rex et Regina Æthelmearc
Their Majesties Æthelmearc, Andreas Morgan and Kallista, as of August 10, 2023, and the Kingdom Seneschal, Illadore de Bedegrayne, in consultation with the Society Seneschal, do hereby issue a Temporary Removal of Participation for Simon Moody known as Simon at the 50th Pennsic War. This sanction will remain in place until the Society Board of Directors has reviewed it and made a final decision.
Their Majesties Æthelmearc, Andreas Morgan and Kallista, as of August 10, 2023, and the Kingdom Seneschal, Illadore de Bedegrayne, in consultation with the Society Seneschal, do hereby issue a Temporary Removal of Participation for John Bojanowski known as Ioannes Aurelius Serpentius at the 50th Pennsic War. This sanction will remain in place until the Society Board of Directors has reviewed it and made a final decision.

Greetings Æthelmearc.
Their Royal Majesties hit the ground running, holding Their first Curia mere days following Their coronation.
It was a delightfully productive meeting in which They decreed some new changes to the Laws of the Kingdom, and some future changes were brought up for discussion. The two main discussion points were adding the Pennsic command staff to the roll of officers, and if peers should be allowed to participate in the corresponding order of high merit if they are not a member of it. Currently that has only happened for the Order of the Gage, but They would like that to be consistent across all orders or none, given that all of the Orders of High Merit are of an equal rank.
We have also closed the position of Seneschal’s DEI Deputy (for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), and our first Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Officer was sworn into the newly minted Grater Kingdom Office. DEIB is important to our Kingdom and the Society at large. Big changes are coming from the very top, and Æthelmearc has proudly been leading the curve in adopting them in addition to carrying out our own initiatives.
I want to thank Gytha Oggsdottir for her long and successful term as DEI Deputy, and Gulsah al-Zakiyya for stepping up into the new Kingdom office. Much like Their Royal Majesties, Gulsah has hit the ground running, and I am working with her and our Kingdom Webminister on improving our event calendar to include more accurate and useful information.
As a final comment, please remember that you can bring any concerns, questions, or ideas to me. If I am not the one to help you, I can at least get you in touch with the person who can.

NMR Increase
Effective April 1, 2024:
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) Inc. wishes to inform its participants about a change in the cost of event memberships, referred to in some places as the non-member registration, and how it will be implemented.
Effective April 1, 2024:
The non-member registration (NMR) for event memberships will be increased from $5 to $10 from April 1, 2024. This adjustment is necessary to support the continued growth and sustainability of our events and organization.
Action Required: Update Event Advertising
To ensure transparency and accurate information for our community, we request all event stewards and organizers for events occurring after March 31, 2024, to update their advertising materials promptly. Please reflect the new event membership rate (non-member registration) of $10 in all promotional content and event announcements.

Membership Fee Increase Effective February 15, 2024:
The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA, Inc.) is announcing an increase in membership fees and non-member registration fees for events.
This decision comes after careful consideration and extensive discussion among the Board of Directors, office staff, and Corporate officers. The effects of inflation across all sectors of operation, as well as other factors impacting the organization’s operational costs, including insurance premiums, legal expenses, and general business expenses, necessitated a comprehensive review of membership rates.
Annual membership fees have not been adjusted in over a dozen years, and non-member registration fees have not increased in over 15 years.
