As with years past\, there is a lot going on over this weekend\, so here are the highlights! \nArchery!\nThe main attraction is\, of course\, the archery. We can’t wait until Saturday to begin\, so the annual Flight Shoot will be Friday evening. Saturday will see a smorgasbord of options\, as we already have slated a bunch of novelty ranges\, a couple woods walks\, a clout range\, and of course the Scarlet Guard Challenge. Speaking of which… \nThe Scarlet Guard Challenge!\nAny group with a seneschal can send one archer as a representative\, as long as the archer is not a member of the Scarlet Guard\, equivalent\, or higher Order. Anyone who has previously won the Scarlet Guard Challenge is likewise ineligible to compete again. Once a group has chosen their archer\, please contact Master Juan Miguel Cezar (terry@belskicomputers.com) with the name of the group being represented\, the name of the seneschal\, and the name of the archer no later than June 3\, 2026. For the tournament itself\, archers MUST bring a letter signed by the seneschal declaring them as the chosen representative of that group\, as well as a small prize to be added to a gift basket which will be presented to the winner along with the ancestral banner which bears the name of all past winners and the groups they have represented. \nThrown Weapons!\nWe already support the flinging of wood and metal through the air\, regardless of its shape\, but this year brings something special. It has been declared that the Aethelmearc Thrown Weapons Champion will be determined at the Scarlet Guard Inn! Throw for fun! Throw for glory! (Or both\, both is good) \nBardic!\nCome enjoy the camaraderie and entertainment of our bardic circle tradition. Whether it is under the roof of the big pavilion or gathering around our large fire ring\, each night everyone is encouraged to help fill the air with songs and stories. \nMerchants!\nHunters Home invites merchants to set up their wares at no additional charge. We had many great items for sale at our last event. Please inform the autocrat so that we can reserve space for you. \nCamping!\nCamping is free! Please feel free to stay Friday and Saturday night. There is plenty of camping space. Some already have regular spots\, but it IS first come first serve. There is space for RVs but it is limited and there are no hookups and no dumping allowed\, please contact the autocrat ahead of time. We have a community campfire that everyone is welcome to join\, but if you choose to have your own campfire that is fine as long as you leave the site as you found it. \nThe Tavern!\nThe Food:\nThere will be no feast at this event\, however there will be a modest sideboard open Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday in the tavern.\nThe Games:\nWant to compete off the range as well? Two gaming tables will be set aside in the tavern with an assortment of games to choose from. We welcome any additions. In addition to the bardic offerings\, period games have proven to be a popular way to spend the evenings. \nSome general notes:\n-Your equipment will need to be inspected before engaging in martial activities\, so please give yourself time to get inspected.\n-The site is discreetly wet. Just make sure you clean up any messes and leave the site as you found it.\n-Being June in Pennsylvania\, and since this site isn’t conveniently close to any major shopping areas\, be prepared for any weather. This means both sunscreen and some way to stay warm through the night.\n-Bug and tick spray! There is truly no better site that is known in this great Kingdom of AEthelmearc where you will find more archery in one location. There is more space given here than at the fields of Pennsic. Find comfort and camaraderie at the Inn where there is food\, music\, games\, campfires\, and of course good friends. \nArchery:\nCome and enjoy more archery than you can shake a stick at. On average we have about a dozen different ranges to help keep you occupied and happy. On Friday evening we have a flight shoot and night shoot. During the day Saturday we have many novelty ranges and a few roving ranges so make sure to wear your walking shoes and bring plenty of arrows.\nIn addition to all the spectacular and creative ranges and shoots\, the Scarlet Guard has issued a challenge to all Shires\, Baronies\, and Cantons to send their best archer who is not a member of the Scarlet Guard to compete. To enter an individual must have a signed letter of entry issued by their group’s seneschal declaring you as their representative in the competition. They also ask the competitor to add a small item or token to the prize basket for the winner. In addition to the prize\, the victor will walk away with the annual competition banner to display throughout the year. Each year the winner’s and group’s name will be added to the banner to create a legacy of great archery and ultimate bragging rights (members of the Scarlet Guard are not allowed to enter). DESCRIPTION:Scarlet Guard Inn VIII\nJune 2\, 2023\, 3pm\nJune 4\, 2023\, 3pm\nFraternal Order of Eagles #965\n1050 Eagle’s Nest Road Brockway PA 15824 \nThe Shire of Hunter’s Home is reestablishing The Scarlett Guard Inn Archery Festival. This will be the first time our Shire and the Scarlet Guard have teamed up to bring you the premier archery event of the year. Nowhere else in this great Kingdom of AEthelmearc will you find more archery in one location\, and we daresay not even at Pennsic. As well as archery there is food\, camping\, music\, games\, campfires\, and of course good friends. \nArchery:\nCome and enjoy more archery than you can shake a stick at. On average we have about a dozen different ranges to help keep you occupied and happy. On Friday evening we have a flight shoot and night shoot. During the day Saturday we have many novelty ranges and a few roving ranges so make sure to wear your walking shoes and bring plenty of arrows.\nIn addition to all the spectacular and creative ranges and shoots\, the Scarlet Guard has issued a challenge to all Shires\, Baronies\, and Cantons to send their best archer to compete. To enter an individual must have a signed letter of entry issued by their group’s seneschal declaring you as their representative in the competition. They also ask the competitor to add a small item or token to the prize basket for the winner. In addition to the prize\, the victor will walk away with the annual competition banner to display throughout the year. Each year the winner’s and group’s name will be added to the banner to create a legacy of great archery and ultimate bragging rights (members of the Scarlet Guard are not allowed to enter). If you have any questions regarding the challenge please e-mail the archery coordinator Juan Miguel Cezar at scarletguard_clerk@aethelmearc.org. \nNotes:\nYour equipment will need to be inspected before you can shoot. If you are day tripping make sure to be there early enough to get it out of the way so you and our inspectors can enjoy a full day’s activities. Inspections are at the small building near the pavilion.\nDon’t forget sunscreen and tick/bug spray\, this is an outdoor event and some ranges take you through deep woods. \nThrown Weapons:\nSince there will already be plenty of arrows flying through the air we might as well set up some thrown weapons butts too. Bring your axes and knives\, maybe a spear or two and give them a throw. \nMerchants:\nHunters Home invites merchants to set up their wares at no additional charge. Please feel free to stay Friday and Saturday night. There is plenty of camping space and some already have regular spots but it is first come first serve. Enjoy your own campfire or be sociable and join us at the common fire. We will have the main fire provided for socializing\, feel free to join in front of the pavilion or have your own fire. But please leave the site as you found it. \nThe Tavern:\nThe Food: There will be no feast at this event\, however there will be a modest sideboard open through the day on Saturday in the tavern. \nThe Games:\nWant to compete off the field as well? Two gaming tables will be set aside in the tavern with an assortment of games to choose from. The Autocrat demanded an all-you-can-eat bacon sideboard for himself. The feastocrat and their minions organized and raised protest about the disparity in bacon distribution and the economic uncertainty of knowing how much bacon the autocrat can eat. HR was called. Porcine sensitivity training was attempted. Long arguments about “Wall Roads” and “Pork Foretellings” were had\, but poorly understood.
