SUMMARY:Japanese Iris Festival and Iron Comet Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Additional Notes on Alcohol Policy: No glass bottles \nPull out your Japanese clothing if you have some. Bring out your Japanese banners and crafts. All heavy fighters\, fencers\, archers\, and thrown weapons enthusiasts\, should be warming up for the tournaments. The Iron Comet Challenge has independent tournaments for heavy fighting\, fencing\, archery\, thrown weapons\, and Arts and Sciences for adults. For youth there will be archery\, thrown weapons\, and Arts and Sciences. There will also be an A&S display for those who prefer to just display rather than compete. There will also be lawn games to fill the time. In addition\, there is the combined Iron Comet Challenge: \nHere are words from Laerifadir Jorundr hinn Rotinn who ran the first Iron Comet 15 years ago: We challenge all martial participants to show how well you do in the disciplines of Heavy Combat\, Fencing\, Archery\, Thrown Weapons\, and Arts and Sciences. All entrants in the Iron Comet Challenge must participate in at least three martial forms and provide an entry for the arts and sciences competition.\nIf you participate in all four martial competitions you get to drop your lowest score for your final ranking. This competition for fun and glory shows just how multi talented our members are. \nThe icon skillet dessert competition is being organized by Lady Arthes MacLeod. Details will be coming soon. DESCRIPTION:Additional Notes on Pet Policy: Leashed pets welcome. \nPlease join us on May 30th at the Jackson County Junior Fairgrounds in Cottageville WV where the Barony of Blackstone Mountain will hold its annual Baronial Championship event to determine who will represent the Barony at the next 7 Pearls. We will hold competitions in Heavy Weapons\, Fencing\, Archery\, Thrown Weapons\, Arts and Sciences and Bardic. At the request of the Baronage\, no one with a Peer level award in an area of competition may compete in that specific area. However they are free to compete in any other category. \nSite fee is $20.00 for Non Members and $10.00 for Members. Children 17 and under are free. Site is Indoor/Outdoor but is wheelchair friendly. Site is DRY. DESCRIPTION:On May 30\, 2026\, the Canton of Dunloch and the Barony of Delftwood will present Spring Fling\, a day of thrown weapons\, heavy weapons fighting\, and music and dance of the Middle East. \nEvent Details: The site is located at 331-343 Bangall Road\, Parish NY 13131. The site opens at 9 AM May 30\, 2026\, and closes at 11 PM that evening. An event schedule will be posted closer to the event\, but will include Thrown Weapons contests\, Heavy Weapons contests and melees (to possibly include the Delftwood Baronial Heavy Weapons Championship)\, and Middle Eastern Dancing and Fun! The site is wet. In the event of inclement weather\, most of the planned activities will be held inside a large pavilion on site. \nThe event fee is $25.00 for an adult (18+)\, $15.00 SCA adult (18+) member discount price\, youths 6-17 would be $5.00 and children 5 and under are free of charge. The day board will be assorted foods of the Middle East and Persia and is included in the event fee.
