“This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be rememberèd—
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.”
~Shakespeare, Henry V
Nobles! Welcome Back!! The feast of St. Crispin is upon us and the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands wishes you to celebrate with us at the Fifteenth Agincourt event!
Agincourt will be held at Camp Lutherlyn, 500 Lutherlyn Ln, Butler, PA 16001. The site will open at 9:00 a.m. Saturday 28 October 2023 and close at 9:00 p.m.
Agincourt returns after a one-year hiatus, and to celebrate its return, we are asking for a display of arms. Bring your banners, wear your heraldic clothing, arrive in your heraldic finery or bearing your arms on your shield! We will be displaying this in the outdoor pavilion where we will also be hosting court.
Heavy Weapons Combatants! Take the field and fight the battles as your ancestors did on this day. Noble combat shall rule the day until your arms ache from your weapons. What would Agincourt be without archery? Target archers get your bows! We have plans, just for you!
Lady Elinor Walden will be coordinating our Archery shoot in memory of Lord Rónán Ó Conaill. More details will be forthcoming as Lady Elinor finalizes her plans.
A Fall Hunt Through the Woods
Every year we are faced with the same threat as all Hallows’ Day approaches and the veil to the other world grows thin. While we want to be merry and celebrate with friends, within the woods surrounding us, evil forces lurk that want to steal our fun. Therefore, we call upon our populace to keep us all sane and drive the evil forces back into the darkness.
You will be meeting your challenges on the trail around the site. There you will be faced with challenges that can be mastered on foot and on horseback. Children and youth are invited to participate along with the adults. We need everyone to protect our Kingdom and keep our festivities alive.
Specific times of this Hunt Through the Woods will be announced soon but for now, the Hunt will start with warriors on foot with the children/youth leading our adults. They can go in groups or individually. Then after lunch, the Hunt will be opened to mounted cavalry. Riders should be authorized in mounted games, and mounted archery. Loaner weapons will be provided.
Please consider volunteering for this fun activity. Volunteers are needed for ground crew to reset obstacles and log scores. Please contact THL Gesa van Wellenstein if you have any questions.
And never fear, we WILL be having our famous Tavern Brawl, please consider bringing a parrying item. In previous years, we’ve seen giant turkey legs, mugs, etc. Be creative as there will be a prize for the best tavern-themed parrying item!!
