A Missive from Their Royal Majesties of Æthelmearc:
Greetings unto the populace of the fair realm of Æthelmearc from Murdoch and Ríoghnach, King and Queen of these Sylvan Lands.
In these early days of Our reign, We look for-ward to traveling the length and breadth of these lands to witness the accomplishments, skills, and acts of kindness and honor We have come to expect from this Kingdom. We truly feel humbled to be part of such an exceptional land.
The calendar over the next few months is filled with events and opportunities for the people of Æthelmearc to show their quality…the highest kind. Chances to fence and fight, to shoot at targets or helmets, chances to throw…be it ax-es, knives, or siege ammunition.
The time and place for the Arts and Sciences are simply always and everywhere! Research, creation, crafting, teaching, learning, it simply does not end. One rabbit hole of knowledge leads to a warren of possibilities.
To Our mind however, among all these activities and devotions, lies Service. Without Service, none of the above can take place. Without those who dedicate portions of their time to making Our Socie-ty run, the Dream stops. We are proud to live in a Kingdom that holds Service in such high regard and would see it continue and even increase.
We would ask, as a focus of Our time on the Throne, that Æthelmearc continues to be an example of what it means to serve our Society. Helping in your local group’s events, taking on an office, learning a new skill to take on new roles, and volunteering when the opportunities arise. The Known World is coming to Our backyard this summer. We would ask every one of our citizens to do what time, ability, and opportunity allows to show what it means to be from Æthelmearc by spending some time helping where we can.
We look forward to all the chances We have to serve you and the Kingdom we all love so dearly and eagerly await the chance to recognize your accomplishments and share in the honor, glory, and re-nown that comes along with the Escarbuncle.

Their Majesties Æthelmearc, Andreas Morgan and Kallista, as of August 10, 2023, and the Kingdom Seneschal, Illadore de Bedegrayne, in consultation with the Society Seneschal, do hereby issue a Temporary Removal of Participation for Simon Moody known as Simon at the 50th Pennsic War. This sanction will remain in place until the Society Board of Directors has reviewed it and made a final decision.
Their Majesties Æthelmearc, Andreas Morgan and Kallista, as of August 10, 2023, and the Kingdom Seneschal, Illadore de Bedegrayne, in consultation with the Society Seneschal, do hereby issue a Temporary Removal of Participation for John Bojanowski known as Ioannes Aurelius Serpentius at the 50th Pennsic War. This sanction will remain in place until the Society Board of Directors has reviewed it and made a final decision.

Barún Pádraig:
Magnificence is a popular, though poorly known virtue. It means to do great things. First spoken of by Plato, it carried through from antiquity all through our period. Towering buildings with intricate stained-glass windows are a testament to magnificence as is a brilliantly brocaded dress or illuminated book.
For us, magnificence is a peer-like quality, though of the many I have spoken to on the subject none mentioned it by name. We strive to fight harder, create better, research deeper, and serve more. We get together to discuss the great things our friends have done and tell tales of the great deeds of the past.
Do me a favor and let me know about the great things you see done. I love reporting about it to Society. I love bragging about our people to my fellow seneschals.
The time for our next coronation is neigh, and swiftly upon its heels we will have the Curia Regis for their newly minted Majesties. We are scheduling this one online for April 18th, and I greatly look forward to seeing you there. Likewise, I look forward to seeing you all at the many events we have over the next few months. Let’s go out there and do great things.

NMR Increase
Effective April 1, 2024:
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) Inc. wishes to inform its participants about a change in the cost of event memberships, referred to in some places as the non-member registration, and how it will be implemented.
Effective April 1, 2024:
The non-member registration (NMR) for event memberships will be increased from $5 to $10 from April 1, 2024. This adjustment is necessary to support the continued growth and sustainability of our events and organization.
Action Required: Update Event Advertising
To ensure transparency and accurate information for our community, we request all event stewards and organizers for events occurring after March 31, 2024, to update their advertising materials promptly. Please reflect the new event membership rate (non-member registration) of $10 in all promotional content and event announcements.

Membership Fee Increase Effective February 15, 2024:
The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA, Inc.) is announcing an increase in membership fees and non-member registration fees for events.
This decision comes after careful consideration and extensive discussion among the Board of Directors, office staff, and Corporate officers. The effects of inflation across all sectors of operation, as well as other factors impacting the organization’s operational costs, including insurance premiums, legal expenses, and general business expenses, necessitated a comprehensive review of membership rates.
Annual membership fees have not been adjusted in over a dozen years, and non-member registration fees have not increased in over 15 years.
